Punta San Vigilio: what to see in the pearl of Lake Garda

If you are looking for the most romantic and evocative place in the entire Garda basin, Punta San Vigilio is the answer. Often referred to as the “Portofino of Lake Garda”, this small peninsula situated between Garda and Torri del Benaco is a corner of paradise where centuries-old olive trees, cypresses and crystal-clear waters create a panorama of rare beauty, loved by poets and rulers for centuries.

Staying at the’Castello S. Antonio Hotel allows you to visit Punta San Vigilio with extreme ease: our facility is located only 10 km away, allowing you to reach this iconic destination in about 15 minutes by car along the scenic Gardesana road.

What to see in Punta San Vigilio: between village and nature

Explore Punta San Vigilio means immersing oneself in an atmosphere of yesteryear. Here are the highlights not to be missed:

  • The Historic Marina: A small stone landing with an old inn and a small church dedicated to St Vigil. It is the perfect place to admire the sunset.
  • Villa Guarienti: A splendid 16th-century mansion surrounded by an Italian-style garden overlooking the entire tip (accessible from the outside).
  • Mermaid Bay: One of the most beautiful beaches on the lake, located within a private nature park, ideal for a day of total relaxation in crystal-clear waters.
A dream stay with a lake view

Reach Punta San Vigilio in just a few minutes by staying at Hotel Castello S. Antonio, your panoramic terrace on Lake Garda.

Staff recommendation: Many visitors choose to reach Punta San Vigilio via the lake by hiring a boat. However, arriving by land, you can enjoy the beautiful walk along the park. After your visit, the tranquillity of our swimming pools and services is waiting for you to end the day on a high note.

The view is great; you can see Lake Garda in the distance. The rooms are clean; we stayed in the main part of the hotel – the rooms in the annexe are a bit smaller, but spacious enough. The breakfast is good; it might not be particularly varied for some people’s tastes, but it’s tasty and fresh – for us, it was more than enough. You’ll need a car to get to Peschiera or the neighbouring towns. There are parking spaces both in front of the hotel and in the annex. The owners and staff are brilliant and very customer-focused. There’s a small pool at the back, and the trees make it feel cooler than the forecast suggests.

A splendid place with very attentive staff. Even though it was 36º outside, the swimming pool made this stay perfect. (They let us use it even after check-out, which was a gesture we really appreciated!) As well as the lake view from the room, until 10.30 pm we could access the panoramic terrace, where we could enjoy the sunset in complete relaxation. The small self-service fridge, which was always available, was also handy. A well-deserved 5-star rating.

An excellent hotel, well-maintained and situated high up, offering a beautiful view of the lake. It has all the facilities you could wish for, including a swimming pool and a stunning panoramic terrace. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast is top-notch.

A lovely hotel at the top of the hill. A 25-minute walk to Lazise town centre with all its restaurants. It was fine for us. A small but decent pool. Very good air conditioning in the room and a good breakfast. Great service. We’d book here again.

Lovely location. Friendly people. Well worth a visit. You do need to be able to climb stairs, though.

A fantastic view, friendly staff – I’d love to come back.

A lovely hotel with a stunning view and very friendly service. Breakfast is small but lovely. Parking is very tight.... For the first 300 metres after Lazise, there’s no pavement, and walking there is dangerous, especially at night. Still, I’d be very happy to stay there again.....
