What to see in Lazise: a guide to the medieval village on Lake Garda

Welcome to Lazise, a pearl set on the Veronese shore of Lake Garda. Known for being the first “Free Commune” of Italy, Lazise welcomes visitors with its imposing Scaliger walls and a harbour that looks like something out of a period painting.

Staying at the’Castello S. Antonio Hotel allows you to enjoy all this beauty from a privileged position: immersed in the silence of our hillside, with the historic centre just 1.5 km away, easily reached by a pleasant walk or a two-minute drive.

The charm of the Old Town: between walls and castles

Entering Lazise means stepping back in time. Here are the points you absolutely cannot miss during your visit:

  • The Scaliger CastleOne of the best-preserved fortresses on Lake Garda. Its imposing towers dominate the outline of the village and are the calling card for anyone arriving in the village.
  • The Venetian Customs: This historic monumental building directly overlooks the water. Once the heart of trade between the Republic of Venice and Lake Garda, today it is the venue for prestigious events.
  • Porto Vecchio and Lungolago Marconi: Characterised by its famous wave paving, the lakefront is the ideal place for a sunset aperitif while admiring the boats returning to port.

The Beaches of Lazise: where to dive into the blue

If your idea of a holiday includes sun and relaxation, Lazise offers some of the best-kept beaches in the lower Garda area:

  • Golden Beach: One of the rare beaches with a sandy bottom, perfect for families.
  • Rose Beach: A short walk from the centre, ideal for a refreshing dip after a cultural walk.
  • Locality Fossalta: Spacious and sunny, excellent for those seeking more open spaces.
Experience the charm of Lazise without the stress of parking

Book a lake view room at the Hotel Castello S. Antonio and reach the centre in a few minutes.

Staff recommendation: Many tourists struggle to find parking in the centre, especially in high season. Staying in our rooms, you will have free private parking and be able to move around the village in total relaxation.

What to do in Lazise: experiences for every season

Lazise is not just a summer destination. Thanks to its strategic location and the wealth of our services, any period is perfect for a visit:

  • In Autumn: Enjoy the colours of the vineyards and the history of the territory through local food and wine routes.
  • In Winter: Don't miss the Christmas markets, considered among the most evocative in the whole of Lake Garda.
  • In Spring: The ideal time for cycling and scenic walks starting right in the vicinity of our hotel.

The view is great; you can see Lake Garda in the distance. The rooms are clean; we stayed in the main part of the hotel – the rooms in the annexe are a bit smaller, but spacious enough. The breakfast is good; it might not be particularly varied for some people’s tastes, but it’s tasty and fresh – for us, it was more than enough. You’ll need a car to get to Peschiera or the neighbouring towns. There are parking spaces both in front of the hotel and in the annex. The owners and staff are brilliant and very customer-focused. There’s a small pool at the back, and the trees make it feel cooler than the forecast suggests.

A splendid place with very attentive staff. Even though it was 36º outside, the swimming pool made this stay perfect. (They let us use it even after check-out, which was a gesture we really appreciated!) As well as the lake view from the room, until 10.30 pm we could access the panoramic terrace, where we could enjoy the sunset in complete relaxation. The small self-service fridge, which was always available, was also handy. A well-deserved 5-star rating.

An excellent hotel, well-maintained and situated high up, offering a beautiful view of the lake. It has all the facilities you could wish for, including a swimming pool and a stunning panoramic terrace. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast is top-notch.

A lovely hotel at the top of the hill. A 25-minute walk to Lazise town centre with all its restaurants. It was fine for us. A small but decent pool. Very good air conditioning in the room and a good breakfast. Great service. We’d book here again.

Lovely location. Friendly people. Well worth a visit. You do need to be able to climb stairs, though.

A fantastic view, friendly staff – I’d love to come back.

A lovely hotel with a stunning view and very friendly service. Breakfast is small but lovely. Parking is very tight.... For the first 300 metres after Lazise, there’s no pavement, and walking there is dangerous, especially at night. Still, I’d be very happy to stay there again.....
